Festive Gift Guide: Part 1 - Everything...Gorgeous!

I've chosen to kick off the new Thursday "Festive Gift Guide" feature with today's books as they would not only make lovely presents but could also provide great inspiration for your own handmade gifts this Christmas...
Everything Oz: The Wizard Book of Makes & Bakes
by Christine Leech and Hannah Read-Baldrey*

Whether or not you are a fan of the works that inspired these books, there is something for everyone between their pages. Cushions, soft toys, lavender filled mice, cakes, biscuits, a tent, head-pieces, patchwork, picnic sets, party masks, a vintage cake stand, tea cosy, aprons, hanging mobiles, paper puppets, toiletries, party 'styling' ideas, decorated furniture, and treats for a dog to name a few. These projects are designed to stand alone, or combine together to decorate your home and garden into an Oz or Wonderland. With lovely photography, clearly written instructions and lots of templates to follow, even those with basic skills would be able to make some wonderful things.

The children have recently discovered The Wizard of Oz film and they love flicking through the book and recognising the different scenes. So far they have made the dog biscuits (pictured top right - I didn't take any pictures of my own before the recipient ate them all) and have a long list of the other projects for us. Each book contains so many ideas, you can go back to them time and time again. I think they could be the basis of some wonderful themed parties. And the cake? Of course, it would have to be this one...

There will be more Festive Gift ideas next Thursday, when I'll be sharing a selection of patterns you could knit or crochet in time for Christmas. If you have seen anything you think should be on my list, or have found any great new products you'd like to see featured, please let me know by leaving a comment or contacting me directly.

*These books have been reviewed, and images used, with the knowledge of the publishers. All views are my own.
