Postcard From... Vancouver

This guest post is part of the 2017 Makers Postcard series - find other posts here, and the 2016 series here

Unlike the other Postcards in the series, today's comes from a brand. I first came across Secret Wood* on social media and just loved their designs. They are not only beautiful but perfectly demonstrate one way a location can be used as inspiration for artistic creation - consequently, I invited Secret Wood to take part in this series. Their postcard was sent by Sara, a graphic designer who wears many hats in this young upcoming company.

Hello! We are Secret Wood. We create hand-crafted rings using a combination of wood and resin as well as other materials such as gold leaf and dried flowers. We have been completely spoiled with some of the most amazing landscapes in the world.

The majestic mountains and mighty Pacific Ocean are right at our doorstep. In-fact, both can be seen from our office! With surroundings like that, there is no need to look any further! All of our designs are inspired by these natural wonders and locations. We also find inspiration from the elements of fire, water and air. The natural world is a complete gift for ideas!

In late 2015 we officially opened our online retail shop, Secret Wood. We have since grown and expanded to the online shop you see today.

We are lucky to have a dedicated team of people working together to keep the business running smoothly. From craftsmen to customer service to designers, we are all working to create unique wearable experiences completely inspired by the nature around us.

The whole idea behind the rings is to allow people to carry these beautiful landscapes with them, even if they do not have direct access to these locations. With a blend of ethereal fantasy elements ground on Canadian natural landscapes, our customers are able to escape into enchanting worlds.

Places we have travelled, experienced, or seen play a part in our creative inspiration, however, majority of our inspiration is found right here in Vancouver!

Find Secret Wood online, where there are lots more beautiful creations. You can also follow them on Facebook and Instagram

  1. I love the first photo! The rocks going into the ocean are just stunning. It reminds me of How to Train your Dragon, with all the islands and exaggerated rocks. Love it. Those rings look rather beautiful too! :)
