Design Notebook: Rhythm Layered Shawl

About a year ago, when I received samples of a range of Mohair and Alpaca laceweight yarns, I submitted a design idea to Scheepjes. I'd come up with a layered shawl which would incorporate the simplicity of stocking stitch with a rolled top, contrasting lace edge and a mesh overlay. Having sent the sample and pattern off some time ago, it was a lovely surprise to see that the printing of the booklet coincided with my recent trip to Scheepjes. It has also been translated into Dutch and appears as part of 'The After Party' series which is being released between each issue of YARN bookazine,

Each layer of the shawl is knit separately, then the lace edging added to both pieces before stitching them together. I love how the delicate alpaca stitches can be seen through the contrasting mohair mesh.

The shawl takes two balls of Scheepjes Alpaca Rhythm in Robotic, and one ball in Jitterbug, plus a ball of Scheepjes Mohair Rhythm in Quickstep.  If pink and grey aren't your thing, there are lots of other stunning colours to choose from, which are listed in the pattern booklet and on the Scheepjes website. The yarns  are available to order at Wool Warehouse*,  Deramores UK*, US* or Aus* and other Scheepjes stockists.

You can order the yarn together with a printed pattern of the booklet (Wool Warehouse direct link)* but the pattern is also available as an immediate PDF download on Ravelry for only £1/ €1. Please feel free to tag me on social media if you knit it - I'd love to see it!
