Last Dance on the Beach Crochet-along - week 7

When this CAL started, I really didn't expect it to get me addicted to crochet, but this week I am completely behind as I've been crocheting other things. I'm unapologetic about it as it's such wonderful fun! (I'm convinced there are many benefits to practising one's secondary craft - you can read my thoughts on that here). So onto week SEVEN...

THE MOTIF:

Today's instalment is one that I'm sure many people have been waiting for - it's the adorable and eye-catching heart motif. Made from double crochet stitches, this one is fairly straightforward but you'll need to watch out for your gauge as it doesn't have as much stretch as some of the other motifs.

THE DESIGNER:

Long-time readers will probably remember Maria McPherson from 50 Shades of 4 Ply, she is  the designer behind this week's pattern. We collaborated on last year's Rock Those Socks make-along (I published a knitted sock pattern in weekly instalments, and Maria designed and published the same for for crochet socks).

Maria lives in the North East of England, and when she isn't at work (she has a full-time career in healthcare) she can usually be found unwinding with some (left-handed) crochet... and maybe the odd G&T. She is a lovely person, with a wicked sense of humour, and a wonderful eye for detail. I just love her designs/tutorials and reading her blog which is very chatty, and is a great reflection of her personality. If you haven't seen it already, be sure to pop over to read what she has to say about the inspiration for the motif.

THE PATTERN:

- Download the pattern in English or Dutch here.
- Video support from Esther 'It's all in a nutshell' can be found here in both languages and for left- and right-handed crafters. (The work all these videos must have taken astounds me!)
- Join in with CAL Facebook communities in either the English or Dutch language.
- The social media tags are #lastdanceonthebeach and #Scheepjescal2016 - use these when you post, so we can see your progress!
- Official Scheepjes yarn stockists in the UK are Wool Warehouse* and Deramores* and you can read my review of the yarns used here
