Snippets: Good things

So it's happened. Little Miss is officially a school girl and My Boy has started Key Stage 2 - that's "The Juniors" in old money. I am happy and proud that they are developing into confident, independent little people who love the social and educational opportunities that school provides. They both had a great day and came home eager to report on the things they had done - new teachers, friends, lessons. Until an aggressive wasp came along this evening, leaving MB with his most painful injury to date, it was a great day for them.

Back to School
First Day!

Their childhoods are moving apace and for this moment at least, it seems they are leaving "me" behind. By which I mean the "me" that has been all about them. It's a strange time for a woman who has been defined by her (paid) work and then by being a mother, and I can totally see how some in my situation resort to having another child to fill that gap (definitely not me!!!). I'm very thankful that we have a puppy coming home in just over two weeks, and I have my crafts and this blog! Amidst the unfamiliarity of this new phase in our family life, there is a spark of excitement - of new things to come. Do you feel it too?

  1. Bless them, they look really happy. I remember the feeling well, it was 14 years ago for me!!!! Where did the time go!!! I was lost, when my little shadow started school. X

They both look so smart. Missed mine so much when they all went to school. You find ways to fill the time and you feel fresher when they get home.

  4. They are too cute. Glad their first day went well. I think as mums we are always evolving since our schedule changes.
