WIPs & Books: Winter is coming (again)

What a busy and freezing cold week it's turning into - brrrr. Not only have we booked a swanky new kitchen makeover for next month (this requires appliance shopping, list making and "pinning stuff"), but we are also preparing for a very exciting event this Saturday. It's the wedding of one of my favourite people and another of my favourite people is coming to stay from Dublin (I wrote about them after our weekend in Brighton).  Amid all the excitement, I'm also knitting a mini-Hilda before I publish the pattern here on Friday - this one is for Little Miss who just loves my red version. D is not very happy that his socks have taken second place, but more on that tomorrow.
WIPs & Books: Mini-Hilda and A Dance with Dragons
After a long hiatus, I'm also back to George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series in the form of A Dance With Dragons (book 5). It's great to be back to these characters as the last book was concerned with a selection of other characters and these are definitely my favourite - the return to Tyrion, Jon Snow and Daenerys is wonderful. If only there were more hours in the day!!!!

I'm linking in with WIP Wednesday and Yarn Along and will return tomorrow with my Next Step Sock Knitalong update. Hope to see you then.

  1. A kitchen makeover sounds fantastic - I fantasise about having one but it seems a drastic alternative to cleaning mine...
    Loving your yarn colours :)

  2. Best of luck with the makeover and I hope you enjoy your weekend. Really loving the red of the mini Hilda, can't wait to see more on that and I've marked the game of throne series to read, I've seen the program but I'm hoping the books are so much better.

  5. I can see how a little miss would want a mini-Hilda too! And just think, you've now test knit it at a couple of sizes! I expect you'll be back to the socks in no time!

  8. Oh how I dream of a new kitchen (as in bigger!)--have fun with all that exciting planning. I sure love Hilda and just went and favorited it on Ravelry. Game of Thrones was a favorite of my husband, but for me I need less epic type reading! Stay warm and knit!

  9. A swanky new kitchen make over sounds divine. We are also in the planning stages of a make over but I don't know about swanky. We are tossing up whether to do it ourselves or get someone more qualified in. i kinda love the feeling one gets when you do it yourself but finding the time is a bit daunting. Love your picture, its extreme eye candy!

  11. Looks like fun pile of stuff to do. I am currently reading book 2 of the Song of Fire and Ice series. I'm finding it a slow read, but really enjoyable!

  12. I finished book 4 in the Song of Fire and Ice series last month and I am waiting for the 5th book. I agree with you. I missed those same characters in the last book. I kept waiting for them to make an appearance :)

  13. Thank you! You made me want to finish book four (I started and put it away some days ago because reading The song of Ice and Fire books takes always ages for me and I don't really know why) and get book five.
Loving knitting too, by the way ;-)
