A little WIPs and books (and poetry) update

CROCHET: The start of a hat in Rowan Creative Focus Worsted colour 401
LISTENING TO: British Poets collection from The British Library
READINGMoondance of Stonewylde by Kit Berry

It's dark and cold (and wet) and I need a hat. Something plain and simple and unassuming to wear with my brightly coloured raincoats. It's one of the things on my Year of Projects list and as my YoP is also about stashbusting, it seems a good idea to use the left over yarn from writing my Cwtchy Cable Armwarmers pattern last year. There should be enough for a little slouch if I also unravel the first armwarmer sample. The yarn is a joy to crochet, gliding effortlessly over the hook, so it should work up in no time at all. If it works out, it'll have the added benefit of being matchy-matchy, and we all know I love a bit of matchy-matchy!

I'm still falling asleep to reading the same book as last week (too tired to read very much in bed) and this morning I'm listening to a bit of Dylan Thomas. I have to admit to being disappointed that he sounds decidedly unlike Richard Burton - in my mind the two have become almost interchangeable as I'm a fan of Burton's recording of 'Under Milk Wood' and have listened to it many times over the years.

Little Miss has a horrid cough/cold and we're planning on cwtching up and staying warm today.
Back soon!

  1. Hope Little Miss feels better soon, cwtching and keeping warm sounds like an excellent plan.

Love the matching hat and arm warmers plan, I need to make myself a matching set, all of mine seem to be different!

  3. You're going to be lovely and cosy this winter :-) Hope Little Miss is better soon, I've got an extra one at home today too as he was sick last night. Naturally now he's full of beans and frustrated at being at home rather than playing with his friends *sigh*

  9. No hat for me at the moment. No, I have other plans (wips) right now. I'm surrounded by people who know how to load a lot of work on me ... I'd love to stay at home, sitting in the sofa, safe, and the bad world not getting to me. ;-) I hope, little Miss is getting better soon though.

  11. I think grey is one of the best for accessories b/c it's neutral and goes w/anything w/out clashing. How do you like that book? I need to look it up on Goodreads.
Poor Little Miss! Coughs are the worst! My grandmother makes hot rice and wraps it up in cheesecloth and rubs the chest and back of one of my daughters. It's like an old Chinese thing; it's supposed to draw out the draft and whatever from the child's body. I have my daughter sleep on two pillows to prop up her head at night.

  12. I could use a good hat. I should add that to my list of things to do. The color you're working with should make your hat very versatile!
