With Pogona off the needles and waiting to be blocked before Friday's 'Ta-dah', it's time to turn my attention to Framlingham, which I started a few weeks ago as a test knit. It hasn't had the attention it deserves yet, but it's looking pretty in purple....
PATTERN: Framlingham by Joanne Scrace
YARN: Blacker Yarns pure dyed British wool in purple
Ravelry notes here
I chose a 100% wool yarn from my stash, as it was cold when I cast on and I was desperate for warmer layers, and typically the sun is now shining. Not to worry, this will be a great "layering" addition for chilly evenings. The pattern is well written and easy to follow and the design is top-down in the round - in fact it would be perfect for someone keen to try knitting an item in one piece as it's very straight forward, with just enough detail to add interest. (The faux cables are made using a slip stitch so it looks more complicated than it is!) To celebrate the launch of the pattern, Joanne is offering readers a 20% discount when purchasing the pattern before the end of June - simply use the code "CWTCH" at checkout.
And if that wasn't enough, I also have some yarn discounts coming up in the next few days for the June Shawl Knitalong - a FAQ post is coming soon so please leave any questions you may have, by commenting on the linked post.
I usually update you on my reading on Wednesdays, but today there isn't much to update - it's been a week of poorly children so I've missed out on my usual bedtime reading in favour of co-sleeping/ comforting. That means I'm still reading Robin Hobb's Assassin's Quest and have made very little progress. To see what everyone else is reading & making, pop over to Ginny's and Tami's.
Hope the sun is shining where you are too, have a great day

Sarah, that purple is stunning! Cold weather will roll around again soon and I know you will really enjoy your Framlingham!
ReplyDeleteI hope your babies are feeling better.
Have a great yarn along day.
Thanks Tracey, you too x
DeletePretty color, the purple and you got it to photograph purple...that's sometimes an effort. Wish you had layed it out so we could see the actual item, shape etc. Maybe next week, we'll see it...wink wink
ReplyDeleteIt's funny you should mention the colour - of course the camera didn't manage it, so I had to do a little tweaking to get the colour right afterwards :)
DeleteYou can't see much at the moment as the cable needle is much shorter than the width of the garment so it's all squished onto a short space - kind of spoils the effect *laugh*
Yarn discounts for the KAL you say... you're making this hard to resist!!!
ReplyDeleteHa! yes indeed, I have at least one vendor offering a discount, possibly more so I'll be posting the details when it's all confirmed.
DeleteWhat a lovely pattern, I love the cable detailing
ReplyDeleteIt's sweet isn't it. I can imagine making a couple in different colours/yarns :)
DeleteLoving that purple and great pattern!
ReplyDeleteThat's one purrty purple!
ReplyDeleteLove the colour :-)
ReplyDeleteLove that purple, it's so rich!
ReplyDeleteWow, your Framlingham is so pretty! I haven't read Assassin's Quest, but have heard good things about it. Would you recommend it?
ReplyDeleteThat is gorgeous! I loved the Farseer Trilogy, sometime I'll have to make time for the Tawny Man trilogy she wrote.
ReplyDeleteThink I Need to knit this!! Sooo preddy :D
ReplyDeleteOh good grief Sarah!!! You don't make things easy!!!! I already have a long list of things to do and now I'm going to have to squeeze this one it too........ Hmmmm, in orange or yellow I think!
ReplyDeleteIt IS looking very pretty in purple! I'm only sorry that the weather won't be perfect to wear it the minute it's done. It's kind of you to announce the discount, but I'm hopelessly overcommitted as it is, so I'd better show some restraint :)
