.....and the winning pattern is Colour Affection by Veera Valimaki
Source: Ravelry |
I've wanted to knit this for a while so it's exciting to start thinking about yarns - I have absolutely no idea which colours to use for this, so I'll be searching the completed projects on Ravelry for inspiration. If anyone has any suggestions, please leave a comment :)
The Knitalong is due to start on June 1st. Who's in?
Oooh, I love this one, I've seen it around a lot but I'm not sure my knitting skills are up to it. I'm tempted to join you but I'm going to have a hunt through ravelry first to see if I can get any hints as to difficulty.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure it's straightforward - the rating on Ravelry is that it's an easy pattern. The pattern is very detailed and there'll be the rest of the participants to call on for help :)
DeleteI'll be putting a FAQ post up when I get my head around it all :)
Yay!! I'm definitely in if I can find some yarn cheap enough for my supertight budget :)
ReplyDeleteMagenta + purple would be fun! Or maybe turqoise + brown... or pink + magenta + gray?
I'm totally looking out for what you use as I love the colours you used last time!!!!!! :)
Deletei'm so glad you liked my last one, thank you :)
Deletei'll be using drops baby merino this time, i think. ordering yarn online is such a gamble, choosing colours seems to be guesswork at best... i'll be crossing all my crossables and hope for the the best ;)
REALLY want to..but will take me forever!!! can't waite to see what you all do though!!
ReplyDeleteI saw that someone made a child's version - a little dinky one :)
DeleteI'm in! I have the pattern and the yarn! This will be my first KAL so I'm not really sure how its done.
ReplyDeleteYay! Which yarns are you using?
DeleteI'll post FAQs in the coming days but basically we're starting it from June 1st (give or take) and share progress with each other. Last time we used a tag on Twitter & Instagram for regular updates and blog links once a week for those who have a blog. I'll be posting an update every Tuesday here which you can add a link to your blog, Flickr/Photobucket etc. If anyone needs help with the pattern they can ask via the same channels.
Instagram is especially good if you use it as we can have a gallery for the progress and finished pics :)
Great! I'm going to use three colors of Madeline Tosh Pashmina that I have been waiting for the perfect project. Well water (light blue), tern (grey) and mineral (light green).
DeleteThat sounds lovely!!!
DeleteI may take part this time. I've figured out knitting a little now and am nearly finished on the different lines pattern so if its not much harder than that one I'll give it a try :-) Do you know how much yarn you need?
ReplyDeleteThere is a fingering and a lace version - I'll post all the figures up in a FAQ post in the next day or so - I think 400m of each of the 3 colours is the longer one, but I'll check all the info and write a proper post :)
DeleteGlad to hear your knitting is going well, that's great news x
here's what the pattern says:
Delete"Approx. 1155 yards [1055 meters] of fingering weight yarn - 385 yards [352 meters] in each colour."
or
"approx. 1200 yards [1100 meters] of lace weight yarn - 400 yards [366 meters] per skein in each color."
Whoops! Thanks :)
DeleteThanks I've just bought some yarn (don't tell DH LOL) so I'll have to do it now :-)
DeleteI'll have a nosy then to see if I've got any yarn thats suitable :-) I'm determined to keep practising now I've kinda figured it out LOL
ReplyDeleteIt's good to keep practicing and trying new patterns/techniques :)
DeleteUh-oh... I need another shawl like I need a hole in the head, but I've been coveting this one for a while!!!
ReplyDeleteDitto!!! It's as good a time as any though, right? And your addled hormone-addled brain will appreciate the garter stitch too . I say go for it! *grin*
DeleteI'm in. I've become a huuuuuge shawl fan lately. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHmmm.... so tempting! But as I still haven't quite finished my last one I'm not sure I have another shawl in me just yet!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to watch along though, such a gorgeous pattern.
I'm off to my favourite yarn store. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to watch from the sidelines while I knit the loser.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing all the pretty colour combo's on this one.
Enjoy
