.... Kindle case, that is. This time a knitted version to showcase some beautifully rustic Felt Studio UK Lipstick handspun which I frogged from an early knitting project. I already have the Amazon Lighted Cover which I use to read in bed, but I wanted something soft and less structured for carrying it my handbag when I don't need the light.
It's impossible to capture the colour in the bad light today! |
There are loads of lovely Kindle case patterns on Ravelry but nothing that I felt was entirely suitable for this yarn, so I made this one up. I may yet add some embellishment to the front but I'm not decided yet.
It was constructed in one piece using Judy's Magic Cast on with 40 stitches on size 5.5mm circular needles. Working in the round using stocking stitch until approx 1" before the full height of the Kindle. Markers were then placed to separate the front and back and the front finished with a K2, P1, rib for the last inch, before casting off the front stitches. I don't like buttons in the middle of screens so made a lop-sided flap by decreasing 2sts on the knit rows of one side and 1 st and checking how it looked as I went along until I was satisfied and then finished off with an i-cord for the button loop and simple crochet edging around the flap and button hole.
Righto, the kids want to do some glitter glue-ing, so I'm off before my house is covered.
Have a lovely day
