This Moment

I find myself sitting alone in a quiet house
and thinking back to this night 5 years ago when I was ill, exhausted and terrified.
In the early hours of the next morning I was anesthetised and cut open ....
... and the most amazing person I ever met was pulled from my body
and placed in my husband's arms.

I became a Mother.
We became a Family.

"Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous.
It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body"
- Elizabeth Stone

  1. Lovely, just lovely. Babies are a gift and in my case, no matter what circumstances have happened.
I actually was a single mom before I met the love of my life. So I know what being scared when the baby's born and crying in your arms is like. But I chose to step up and grow up and I'm proud of myself for doing that.

  5. Oh goodness how apt is this! My step grandson was born last night by exactly the same method, so reading your blog this morning has special meaning to me. It's a little late, but a very happy birthday to your little one, I hope you all spent the day having lots of fun!

  6. That brought a lump to my throat! It's just an absolute miracle how life is formed and I wish I let that thought enter my head when the kids are playing up and I want to shout at them......I'm surer it would stop me getting cross 95% of the time.
