A quick Ta-dah after finishing the second sleeve of this last night.
Pattern: Improvised (for number of stitches see Ravelry project page)
Yarn: Patons UK Smoothie DK and I used just over 1.5 balls
I'm not sorry to have finished knitting this yarn - it's really unpleasantly splitty and there were a few times where I had to cut the yarn to rejoin a better piece as there were broken threads. Although the finished fabric is really soft, and perfectly suitable for a child, I definitely wouldn't rush to use it again. Regardless, Little Miss loves the tunic and is especially fond of the acrylic heart butons which came from Atomic Knitting.
I'm having trouble linking to Tami's Amis today, but hopefully that will be resolved soon and there will be more FOs there later. There's some crochet to follow on Sunday (when we'll be heading off on our holiday) in the meantime, I hope you all have a fabulous start to your weekend! xxx
The finished sweater looks fabulous! And the buttons are perfect for it, too. Thanks for the warning about the yarn. :)
ReplyDeleteBright and cheery. Good opinion about the yarn and will make note of it.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours, it's fab! The buttons are just perfect too :)
ReplyDeleteI have a ball and a half of that yarn and have used it before - totally agree on the horridness of the splitting, hence why I still have some I don't really want to use it!
ReplyDeleteThat is so adorable!!! I hate when yarn doesn't cooperate but you seem to have handled it well and the finished product is so stinkin cute!
ReplyDeleteThat is lovely, so colourful.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the Smoothie yarn, I've crocheted a couple of small shawls from this but won't buy any more.
Some yarn I have really enjoyed using is King Cole Splash, the apricot shade is wonderful, gives a sort of Fair Isle finish without all the hard work!

Really cute, and the buttons are the perfect finishing touch! And congratulations on finishing; I don't have a lot of patience for splitty, aggravating yarn!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. The buttons really finish it off completely!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable sweater, if I was Little Miss I'd love my new tunic too. Good job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute tunic and I'm so impressed that you made that without a pattern!
ReplyDeleteDarling, love the colors, and your bottons are perfect for it. Well done.
ReplyDeleteso cute! love it! :)
ReplyDeleteThe buttons are perfect. I'm sorry to hear about the yarn, but the FO came out great.
ReplyDeleteIt looks cute, and so much better so it being knitted 'off the cuff' so to speak, very clever. Thanks for the button idea for the cardigan, unfortunately I'd already removed the ribbon, I wasn't happy with how they were sewn on, it just looked messy, not sure how to do it. Look forward to the crochet and hope you have a lovely holiday

Really cute! I love how the buttons match the yarn
ReplyDeleteYes I still totally love this! Seen it as a wip on Wednesday and thought it looked great!
ReplyDeleteLove. This is even better finished than it was on Wednesday, and I adored it then! I'm sorry the yarn was a pain, but I'm glad it worked up into a nice, kid-friendly fabric. And I'm still all googly-eyed about the colours and buttons.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Sorry about the splitty yarn. What a pain.
ReplyDeletewow, you improvised! how amazing is that! it looks so cute, what a legend

Cute tunic, the bright colours are wonderful. I have had the same problems with smoothie yarn and have to agree that I would not be in a hurry to use it again
ReplyDeleteThat's so sweet! Love the colours the yarn has. Your soooo clever improvising a pattern like that it's just lovely. You'll be so proud seeing her wearing it and rightly so.
ReplyDeleteBig yay for holibobs! I can confirm the view of the Severn Bridge is glorious this morning and the sun is shining bright so hope it stays lovely for you.
