Saturday sewing: Pencil Roll

Using a mixture of the pattern in Soulemama's 'The Creative Family', this tutorial, and my usual 'bodge-it' style, I finally had a go at making a pencil roll while Little Miss had her nap.

I'd originally intended to make one as a gift but my sewing is not quite up to a giftable level yet, so this one will be staying here in our playroom - LM is already putting the pencils in and out and in and out and in......

It's made from thick cotton and is lightly padded. I would have preferred the hair band/buttons closure from the linked tutorial, but didn't have a band in a suitable colour so instead reused a lovely ribbon that I'd stashed from unwrapping our Christmas presents.

I think I need to get some more supplies and have another go. Maybe the next one will fit my KnitPros and cables....?? :)

I have loads more to write about and photos to share so I'll be back soon with a proper update but in the meantime, I hope you are all having a lovely weekend!

  1. I am about to start a roll for knit pros and cables - this one is for a friend but hoping there will be enough fabric left over for my needles too :-)

I'm using this pattern http://www.skiptomylou.org/2007/04/25/on-a-roll/ after making a successful crayon roll from it.

  3. Your pencil carrier is so cute. I made a few of these years ago and still use them all of the time.
