I came across Kids Clothes Week Challenge on the Elsie Marley blog. The idea is simple - you spend one hour per day from the 9th to 15th May making something for your kids to wear. Sounds great, doesn't it? Unfortunately I have next to no fabric plus there are no fabric shops where I live.... so my personal challenge will be: to make UPCYCLED clothes for the kids in one hour per day (although I'm reserving the right to opt out on the 14th as it's my birthday).
I have had several 'upcycling' tutorials bookmarked for months, but if you follow my blog, you'll have realised that I'm not really very good at sewing so I'm hoping this challenge will be just the kick up the derrière that I need. Here are the patterns/tutes I have been saving:
- Button Shirt to dress and another here
- Matching capri pants
- Pillow Case Dress
- Simple Kimono Wrap Top
- Sundress
- There is a t-shirt to trouser tute I can't find that I used for doll clothes before and which is really easy.
- Shirring elastic dress/top
- Elsie Marley also has some great links here.
Fancy joining in? If you do, please feel free to comment and link to any more tutes etc that you find useful - at the end of the week I'll update my list.
LOVE pillowcase dresses - the first things I sewed with any degree of success. Very easy and effective.
ReplyDeleteI've just added loads more tutes & patterns to a new page - some of the pillowcase dresses are lovely - now I just need some pillowcases!!!
